Artist Judy Hall was burnt out from being an artist who had to work two jobs to support herself, so she turned to her higher power for help. “Use me as you will, God.... Oh, and by the way, I’d like it to include painting. But if that isn’t for the highest good, I’m willing to not have that happen.”

She didn’t realize that her answer was already in the process of being revealed. It had begun almost 20 years before, when she met her friend Derek.

In the mid ‘70s, Judy and Derek became friends. Over time their relationship blossomed into hearts and flowers. He was also the doctor who diagnosed her with Guillon-Barre disease when she found herself paralyzed from head to toe. She was told she would not remain paralyzed, but that she would never be able to walk without crutches or a cane.

Judy had a fighting spirit, and Derek helped her every minute he could, in spite of long work hours. He carried his sweetheart to the park for picnics. Lying in the warm sun, Judy watched people bicycling by. Back in her hospital bed, she’d visualize herself bicycling, her legs strong and sturdy. When she regained feeling in her arms, she began to paint. In time, she healed completely. Her visualization of wellness became manifested into reality.

In 1993, Judy had a medical question others couldn’t answer, so she contacted Derek, though they had not seen each other for years. He was delighted to hear from her. But there was something different about

Derek. He was fragile, forgetful, and depressed. Within months, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. It was Judy’s turn to be there for the man who had taken care of her almost 20 years prior. Eventually Derek became unable to communicate, and Judy had to rely on her intuition. After days meditating by his bed, she began to feel the presence of something she could only identify as “beings” surrounding Derek. A few weeks later, when these beings appeared in her dreams, filling her with love, Judy began incorporating them in her paintings. Over and over again, she felt them by Derek’s bedside and saw them in her dreams.

A passion grew in Judy to teach people about these beings and the great source of love waiting for them on the other side. Judy next portrayed the beings in gigantic sculpted form for a hospital. The installation included 700 tiny heart-shaped stones contributed by friends, associates, and those who had lost loved ones. Patients were invited to take the soothing stones home with them — tokens of love from the beings. Continued on next page
